THOUSAND ISLANDS National Park

Thousand Islands National Park is a marine nature conservation area in Indonesia, which is located approximately 45 km to the geographical location of 5 ° 23 '- 5 ° 40' S, 106 ° 25 '- 106 ° 37' E north of Jakarta. Administratively TNKpS region are in the district of Thousand Islands, located in the district of North Thousand Islands, precisely in three villages namely Bake Island, Coconut Island, and the Island of Hope. Geographically National Park is located at 5 ° 24 '- 5 ° 45' S, 106 ° 25 '- 106 ° 40' E 'and covers 107 489 ha (Ministry of Forestry Decree No. 6310 / Kpts-II / 2002), which consists from marine waters covering 107.489.ha (22.65% of the total water Thousand Islands District Administration) and two islands (island Penjaliran West and East Penjaliran Island) area of 39.50 ha. As such, other islands (land area) totaling 108 actually not included in the Thousand Islands region TNKpS. 

TNKpS region has great potential for the development of nautical tourism, given its proximity to the national capital (Jakarta), making this region has a good development opportunities. In line with the development of large cities, the more people who want to return to nature. Marine tourism activities to do in the park include  diving (scuba diving) on ​​several dive spots (there are 26 diving spots), snorkeling, fishing, educational tourism (planting seagrass, mangroves, and coral rehabilitation, hawksbill, Brahminy Kite), sunbathing on the beach, camping, and others. Panorama sea in this region become an attraction for tourists natural. Panorama as at the time of sunrise and sunset the main attraction. Some islands in the National Park area has developed into a resort-tourist resort, with tourism facilities, among others, with the construction of the pier, pavilion visitors, restaurants and lodges hospital by private parties. Number of islands located in the territorial waters TNKpS which amounted to 76 pieces of the amount recorded 20 pieces that have been developed as a tourist island, six inhabited islands making up the rest of the population and individual or business entity.

The dynamics of the local community as a maritime community can actually be a tourist attraction. Community activities as fishing can be the main attraction, especially in the islands settlement. Various types of fish and seafood can be a marketable commodity to be offered to the tourists. Meanwhile, equipment of fishing can be introduced to the immigrants / tourists, like, floating net, chart, fishing gear and boats. The number of tourists who come to the Thousand Islands from year to year tend to increase.
